You cannot just walk onto a terminal anymore. This is a one-of-a-kind career opportunity for those who don’t work around marine terminals. Space is limited to 20 WISTA members and guests. (open up to prospective WISTA members a week before the event). Currently as of Oct 21st at 1145 PST, we only have 2 more spots available.
Terminal 5 is an SSA-operated terminal. Specifications are below. The NW Seaport Alliance (Port of Seattle and Tacoma agreement on container shipping) and SSA Marine made substantial upgrades to the terminal. The terminal renovations include two reconfigured berths to support larger cranes, on-dock rail, 1,500 refrigerated plug ins, and shore power capability. Phase One of Terminal 5 was complete and the north berth at Terminal 5 was open for cargo ships in 2022. The MSC Monterey is the first vessel to call the newly modernized terminal with four new Super-post Panamax cranes ready to work the ship. The Terminal 5 Modernization Program launched in 2016 to expand gateway cargo capacity and enable The Northwest Seaport Alliance to service the largest vessels in the Transpacific trade. At full completion, Terminal 5 will boast 185-acres of additional capacity. Beyond import cargo, the opening of Terminal 5 will also help increase opportunities for agriculture exporters from the mid-west and eastern Washington to move their goods to overseas markets.
