WISTA Florida: Seafarers’ House Shoebox Event October 26th

Holiday season is (almost) here! Please see below details regarding our annual “Shoebox” wrapping event at Seafarers’ House in Port Everglades.

Kindly note, this event is in person only as we will be hands on stuffing holiday gift bags and crafting cards for the seafarers that call in PEV during the upcoming season.

Everyone is encouraged to bring crafting supplies for the cards and ribbons for the bags. This is a family-friendly event, so please feel free to bring your kids, too! (They get volunteer hours from helping out at the Seafarers’ House, just please make sure to bring whatever form the school requires so they can get the credit!)

What: Monthly Chapter meeting – “Shoebox” packing

When: October 26th at 6 p.m.

Where: Seafarers’ House, 1800 SE 32nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316

Arrival info: Beware! Some GPS apps will take you to a site outside of the port with the above address so please be mindful that Seafarers’ House is located inside the port. All guests will need to show their government issued ID at the port entrance. The building doesn’t have signage yet but it’s located next to the FPL plant and across the street from Terminal 18. It is white, with blue trim and a blue awning. Parking is limited, so car pooling is encouraged!

As we have done in the past, we’re collecting $40 per member toward the shoebox supplies that go in the bags. You can either bring a check (addressed to Port Everglades Seafarers’ House), cash to the meeting, or donate online* by using this link.
