As a result of our continued growth, we are seeking a claims handler for our New York City office.
In this position you will be part of a world leading marine insurance provider where service and competence is key. You will be part of a dynamic team in New York and collaborate closely with Skuld’s offices worldwide. We believe in teamwork, sharing knowledge and supporting our customers. As a claims handler at Skuld, you will:
- Handle a diverse portfolio of P&I claims and FDD disputes, including responsibility to evaluate, negotiate and settle claims, and participate in casualty coordination with our global casualty team
- Provide legal and strategic advice to members, clients and colleagues around the world
- Provide reviews of maritime contracts and insurance terms
- Develop and manage relationships with members, clients, business partners and industry colleagues
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Actively participate in Skuld seminars, gatherings, and events
- Contribute to a friendly, open, and trusting work environment
Required experience:
- 5-10 years of US legal experience
- Admission to practice law in New York, or other US state
- Handling of marine casualties
- Jones Act litigation
- Contract disputes
- Strong writing, analytical and communication skills
Preferred experience:
- Knowledge of on-board vessel operations
- Knowledge of tug and barge operations
- Strong network and contacts in the maritime industry

We offer a hybrid working arrangement with the option to work from home up to two days per week schedule permitting.
Salary commensurate with experience ranging from US$130,000 – US$175,000 annually.
