WISTA USA is a networking organization for managers and executives in the shipping, trading and logistics sector. A member of WISTA International, WISTA USA has more than 900 members across the United States while WISTA International currently has more than 6,000 members worldwide with National WISTA Associations (NWAs) in 54 countries. WISTA USA members gather regularly for networking opportunities across the country and for the WISTA USA Annual General Meeting (AGM) generally held in the spring and the WISTA International AGM held each fall.
Membership Requirements
As a networking organization, applicants should be at the decision-making and/or management level of their organization, and should be involved in the shipping, trading and logistics industry. WISTA USA includes members in all sectors of the industry from shipowners and operators to law and finance professionals, shipboard officers, marine engineers, naval architects, educators and professional development instructors, technology and communications professionals, marine and environmental scientists and more.
In addition to a completed application, WISTA USA also requires a letter of recommendation from a current WISTA member whether from the U.S. chapter or abroad. The recommendation letter should specify how the recommender knows the applicant and should briefly summarize the applicant’s involvement in the maritime industry. Each application is reviewed by WISTA USA’s Membership Director and may be sent to regional Chapter Presidents and the Board of Directors for further review.
WISTA USA dues are billed annually in January by the WISTA USA Treasurer. Members must paid their dues to remain in good standing for voting purposes. Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies and organizations wishing to support the mission and activities of WISTA USA.
